Twenty houses designed by the celebrated architect Fagan, set in various environments. Fagan's designs are credited with inspiring Cape architects to be more sensitive to the local landscape, flora, materials available and areas unique environment.
Introductory essay by Peter Buchanan.
Gabriel Fagan was born in Cape Town in 1925. He was well-known for his restoration of old Cape buildings, such as the Castle of Good Hope and Tuynhuis. He died in 2020.
This book looks at some of his restoration work as well as at new houses he designed.
