Description


Two William Marples & Sons Carving Gouges, approx. 164 Year Old High Carbon Steel

Made: c1860 W. Marples, Shamrock Mark, Hibernia Works, Sheffield, England 


  • Pattern No 19, 5/8" x 7.2" Curved Gouge with a Marpels style turned beechwood handle 

  • Pattern No 5, 3/4" x 9.4" Straight Gouge With Marples turned beechwood handle
  • Note: The name stamp on the curved gouge cannot be seen. The tang has been inserted too

deep into the  handle to read the stamp. Therefore it does not form part of the price. It is included as a bonus.
