I just adore these two serving dishes from the Haddon Hall range made by the Johnson Brothers. They were made somewhere between the 1960′s and 1970′s and are in great condition. They both have the Johnson Borthers, Haddon Hall stamp on the underneath the dish.
In 1883, Alfred, Frederick,Henry and later Robert Johnson purchased the bankrupt J. W. Pankhurst Company, a tableware manufacturer in Hanley, England, and established Johnson Brothers china. They soon spread to the American, Canadian and Australian markets. They are famous for introducing ‘semi-porcelain’, ceramics resembling porcelain but having no transparency. World War 2 almost crippled the Johnson Brothers company, but luckily for us they recovered and continue to produce china to this day.
