This lot includes two paperbacks by Hodder and Stroughton from the 1960's which explore the experiences of Christians persecuted by the soviets in "The Soviet Saints"and the true story of Elka, tribe leader and witchdoctor in South American 1950's, who came to know Jesus in Christ's Witchdoctor.
The Soviet Saints , 1968 by Richard Wurmbrand ,seems to have been signed by the author's wife Sabina Wurmbrand who played a critical role together with him in spreading the christian word in Russia and helping Jews during the Second World War. Richard Wurmrand survived fourteen years of communist imprisonment to become a new John the Baptist, a voice crying in the wilderness on behalf of the Underground Church in Eastern Europe. In the Soviet Saints he presents reports from the soviet press about christian life in the soviet union.
Christ's Witchdoctor, 1963 - by Homer E Dowdy - ...a gripping account of the witchcraft dominated life of a tribe in British Guiana and of the thrilling transformation that took place with the coming of the missionaries....this story is told through Elka, a respected witchdoctor and the first Christian convert among his people.
