Two Remy Martin Louis VIII Cognac Glasses Uniquely Hand Blown Not Easy to Get!
ON AUCTION ARE TWO UNIQUELY HAND BLOWN REMY MARTIN LOUIS VIII COGNAC GLASSES.
THIS SET OF TWO LARGE SIZE FACETS OF LOUIS XIII GLASSES, WERE EXCLUSIVELY DESIGNED FOR LOUIS XIII TO ACCOMPANY THE PURCHASE OF THE TOP OF THE LINE COGNAC OF REMY MARTIN. BUT AT A GOING PRICE OF R90000 FOR A BOTTLE OF LOUIS XVIII TO OBTAIN THESE GLASSES COME WITH A HEFTY PRICE.
Each LOUIS XIII glass is unique and hand-crafted meticulously by 9 Crystal Masters who pass down the delicate crystal piece from one hand to another. The crystal is manually gathered and gently shaped before being mouth-blown into its first form. A narrow stream of crystal is delicately applied to form the final foot. Here is the website link with a video to show how it is done. THE DESIGN OF THIS GLASS IS BASED ON THE SHAPE OF A DROP OF WATER WHOSE FORM IS STYLISED, AND REFLECTED BY THE VERTICAL GROOVES CARVED ALONG IT. AS WITH A CUT DIAMOND, THE LIGHT FILTERS IN AND BOUNCES OFF THE CARVED FACETS, THUS GIVING LIFE TO THE MAHOGANY ROBE OF LOUIS XIII.
Louis XIII was on the throne of France when the Rémy Martin family settled in France's Cognac region in the 1620s. LOUIS XIII was thus to become an emblem of luxury and the French affinity for the good life. And this famous drink is a tribute to him the first monarch to recognize cognac as a spirit category in its own right. Simultaneously a jewel and a work of art, the crystal decanter and accompanying glasses are decorated with the royal symbol, the fleur de lys.
