This pair of amazing antique Victorian (c1901) hand carved "Token of Love" stone book are a rare find and both the carved stones measure roughly 5cm long x 7cm high x 2cm wide.
The carved stone books were traditionally given as tokens of affection and I've included a link below that explains these wonderful antique American folk art stone books. The tradition caught on in the UK and many of the examples in the market are from the UK. They make awesome paper weights too.

"Carved stone books are a fascinating and unusual form of American folk art. They were given as tokens of affection, and the most interesting have inscriptions and carving. Often there are first names, usually female. Full names are much less common presumably because the giver likely knew the recipient well. Dates appear as well, which indicates the popularity of these books decade by decade. The first American stone books show up about 1860, including books carved by soldiers during the Civil War, but seem to be most popular from 1870 to 1900."
There is wear and tear on both the engraved stone books as shown in the pics, Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate these 120 year old stone books and to confirm the condition.
