Tyrone Appollis has been a professional painter since the 1980s and has achieved international success. He has exhibited in USA, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Namibia as well as his home South Africa.
Since his initial training at the Community Arts Project in Cape Town he is mostly self-taught. He draws his inspiration from Old Masters and the Impressionists as well as his own personal experiences in and around his beloved home in the Western Cape. His paintings are held in public collections in USA, UK, and of course in South Africa.
Private collectors include Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Judge Albie Sachs and former Presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki.
