First South African Edition, (Second State), Hamish hamilton Ltd., London, 1962

First South African Edition, (Second State) Hard Cover, Navy boards, gilt title, author and publisher's logo to spine although gilt is fading, boards are bumped and scuffed with some fading to spine, ffep has a previous owners name, and a mark on the page where dust wrapper was previously stuck down and then removed. un-clipped dust jacket is lightly soiled with some scuffing and slight chipping to edges. This is an interesting Apartheid period issue, having a new version of the dust wrapper with "Approved by the Publications Control Board" at the head of the flap, and a sticker with the same message on the half title. The first edition was banned by the Verwoerd Apartheid government. Publisher: 1962 2nd Printing Hamish Hamilton
