From the Food Pots of Omega is a beloved, collectible Afrikaans recipe book compiled in the late 1980s by Jacqui Adams, with beautiful illustrations by Coral Fourie. It is a unique publication that combines traditional recipes (including indigenous ingredients and game) with stories and sketches of the San (Bushman) culture in Southern Africa, specifically focused on the then Omega base in the Kavango region of Namibia.

.Omega Base is a historic former military camp located in the Kavango East region of Namibia, approximately 70 kilometers east of Divundu. Established in the 1970s and abandoned in 1990, it served as the headquarters for the South African Army's specialized 31 Battalion (later 201 Battalion).

The base was famously known as the "Bushmen" Battalion headquarters. It primarily housed thousands of San people, including the !Xun and Khwe tribes, who were recruited for their exceptional natural tracking and bushcraft abilities during the South African Border War. Following the withdrawal of South African forces in 1990, the military installation was abandoned
