1.53ct ULTRA RARE COLOUR CHANGING NATURAL ZIRCON

This is an ultra-rare zircon that displays exceptional traits. It is both thermoluminescent and tenbrescent. The are two types of colour change. The first is activated by heat, and the other by light (or absence of it). When exposed to heat for a short period of time (a few seconds, any more would stop the effect permanently) it's colour intensifies to a beautiful orange colour, which it will keep for between 20 minutes to an hour (several hours at night). The second phenomenon, tenebrescence, causes a similar, although less dramatic effect if. If the stone is kept in the dark, over time it will return to the bright orange colour. The effect, once again, will fade when exposed to normal daylight. 

Please do not confuse this with the man-made cubic zirconium, which is a completely different stone! Zircon is rare and completely natural!!!

The actual gemstone is far more vivid and brilliant than my photographs show. Please note that the pictures show only the normal gem colour, not the special orange generated by the effect as this stone is being kept in the dark to preserve the colour for the winning bidder (pictures were taken before the phenomenons were discovered after testing)
