Ultra rare!! Very large vintage 1930's/40's Dumbo still stuffed with wood wool/excelsior - Steiff?

Dumbo reminds me of a passage in the 1922 book, "The Velveteen Rabbit" - "Real isn't how you are made ... it's a thing that happens to you when a child loves you for a long, long time..." This Dumbo definitely falls in the "much loved" category.  I was told that he is a Steiff Dumbo but cannot find another Dumbo (Steiff or otherwise) that even closely resembles him! So unique!  The eyebrows remind me of Steiff toys and he certainly was well made in the day so could be.  A large Dumbo that could possibly have been made pre-Disney as Helen Aberson's illustrations in her book and Disney's version are very similar. He is 55cm tall with moveable head, arms and legs, stuffed with excelsior (wood shavings)felt hat, mouth and paw pads with big, floppy velveteen ears.  Not sure if his body is velveteen or mohair - could be either.  Definitely a very special, much loved flying elephant!   Refer images
