Union Castle Line 'R.M.M.V. Dunvegan Castle' Napkin Ring
This early, white metal, souvenir napkin ring has the blue enamel emblem of the 'R.M.M.V. DUNVEGAN CASTLE' on the front. This ship was built in 1936 and requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1940 as an armed merchant cruiser, which was then torpedoed and sunk in August 1940, off the coast of Ireland by a German submarine. The napkin ring is in excellent condition.
