Union Castle Line 'R.M.S. Llandaff Castle' Napkin Ring
This early, silver-plated souvenir napkin ring has the brass and enamel emblem of the 'R.M.S. LLANDAFF CASTLE' on the front. This ship was built in 1926 and requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1942 as a troopship, and in November 1942, off the coast of Zululand South Africa, she was torpedoed twice by a German U-boat, broke in two and sunk. Other than some minor loss to the plating, it's in great condition.
