This is a unique lifetime collection of Lawrence Green books, seven of which have been warmly inscribed and signed by the author, often with the name used by his closest friends(Laurie). There is also an amusing handwritten note by Lawrence Green tipped into one of the books which reads as follows :"  August 25th 1967. Advance copy. Please do not let anyone see it until it appears in the bookshops, as booksellers are very jealous people." (!) ( in the book On Wings of Fire, published in 1967 , which is also warmly inscribed and signed on the page opposite to the note ).

The inscribed and signed books are all published by Howard Timmins of Cape Town and comprise the following titles:

Karoo (1955). ( very good in a good unclipped dust jacket with edgewear )

There's A Secret Hid Away (1956) ( very good in a a fair unclipped dust jacket with edgewear )

Something Rich and Strange ( 1962) (very good in a tatty dust jacket that has come apart )

Almost Forgotten, Never Told ( 1965) (very good in a very good unclipped dust jacket with a little edgewear)

On Wings of Fire ( 1967 ) ( very good in a good unclipped dust jacket with edgewear. Handwritten note by author tipped in describing the book as an Advance Copy which is dated August 1967 )

The 32 books in this collection are all in first edition, unless they are Timmins re-issues of the earliest books published by Stanley Paul in England . In this collection they are four such  Timmins re-issues in very good condition:

There is an anthology, The Best of Lawrence Green( edited and compiled by Scott Haigh , published by Bailey Brothers and Swinfen of Folkestone in 1974 ( the only book not published by Howard Timmins) which is very good with the bookplate  in a very good dust jacket. Also included is the biography Lawrence Green. Memories of Friendship ( Howard Timmins, Cape Town, 1973 ) ( very good with bookplate in a very good dust jacket )  by John Yates-Benyon, the son of Green's longtime girlfriend, which makes extensive mention of the original owner of this collection.
