"Thokoloshi" Creations by Marita Simpson

Unlikely that you will come across one of these "Thokoloshi" Creations by Maritha Simpson any time soon.

Sculpted approximately 10 years ago by Maritha Simpson who now only focuses on portraits.

It is confirmed by the artist that only a few of these were ever made. This is a truly unique and original South African item which depicts a character familiar across all local cultures.

A great conversation piece. From beds on bricks or paint cans you decide whether the "Tokoloshi" is fact or fiction.

"Thokoloshi" or African "fearie". The malevolence behind the Thokoloshi does not spring from himself but from his evel master the sorcerer, whose main aim is to cause strife and misery amongst his fellow man. The Thokoloshi's main asset is to render himself invisible, but he can be seen by children and often befriends and play with them.

The creation is approximately 54 cm high.
