UNOPENED DECK OF PAUL KRUGER PLAYING CARDS - c.1960/61

An interesting boxed, unused deck of playing cards with a Paul Kruger/Afrikaner/Boer theme. These were manufactured around the time of 50 years of Union & establishment of the Republic of South Africa c.1960/61. At the time of issue the deck cost 75c and postage of 5c was added to receive a deck in the mail.

There are a number of Boer symbols represented in the deck i.e. President Kruger as the "Ace", a Kommandant as the "King", Boer woman with kappie as the "Queen" and the Boer with bandolier represents the "Jack". The four different suits are ox-wagon wheels (spades), powder horns (hearts), jukskeie (diamonds) & velskoene (clubs).

Pse note the deck of cards is still sealed with transparent paper and a sticker resembling the shape of Africa.
