Hardcover pictorial boards with stamped gilt titling, whose title page has been glued to the inside front board, and is not visible. Assumed 1891 edition, foreword dated 1890. Wear to boards, with gentle crease along the length of the rear one, and a number in white marker to foot of the spine. Tanning, and scattered foxing to some pages. Two fold-out maps at the rear, one misfolded, with two tears along folds, (Kolonien (Schutzgebeite) Des Deutsches Reich I), showing African colonies, and the other of the same title but II, showing Pacific colonies, with a short tear along a fold.
