This is a precision mechanism ARM used in CNC lathes and turning centres to measure tool dimensions, compensate for wear, and detect breakages.  

  • As the CNC machine drives the cutting tool to gently touch the probe's stylus, the probe triggers an electrical signal.
  • The arm is either manually swung or pneumatically deployed into the machine's cutting area only when measuring is required.
  • The CNC controller instantly records the exact coordinates of the machine axes at the moment of contact.
  • It uses these coordinates to automatically calculate tool length and diameter.

  • It swings a highly precise touch probe (the RP3) into the machine's workspace to physically contact the cutting tool
