UNUSUAL MARQUISE-SHAPED RING HEAD IN 9CT YELLOW GOLD WITH AMETHYST AND OPENWORK DETAILING. 375

 This unusual vintage piece is 9ct yellow gold, featuring a marquise-shaped ring head with a raised bezel into which eight x 2mm diameter, round cut, claw set amethysts have been set. When the ring head is viewed from the side, the top has a table-top structuring, lying flush with the bezel, 6mm above the finger. Framing the marquise shape is a scalloped ribbed openwork design of yellow gold. The 17mm long x 11mm wide ring  head sits on a polished gold shank that forks on the shoulders.  It weighs a solid  3,8 grams and  bears the hallmarks for British gold, the London Assay mark, the jeweller's signature and the 375 hallmark for 9ct gold. It is ring size 8/quarter (Q in British and SA sizing). A rather unusual collectable piece of English jewllery!
