ANDALUSITE AND DIAMOND 9CT YELLOW GOLD CLUSTER RING
FABULOUS UNUSUAL GEMSTONE PIECE. BIRMINGHAM ASSAY.
Delicate and ornamented, this beautiful Birmingham assay ring features a trilogy of large oval faceted Sri Lanka-mined andalusites (1,56 carats in total) claw set in 9ct yellow gold, forming the petals of a flower. Alternating between the andalusites are 3 smaller petals - more of a half marquise shape - featuring round faceted Africa mined diamonds claw set in white gold, with a slight raised edge on the petals. A slender 9ct yellow gold shank splits into 3 on both shoulders and forms an openwork petal design that completes the flower head. The other 2 support the ring head, a long curved strand brackets two petals. The openwork around the ring head accentuates the delicate design of the piece. The ring head is 13mm in diameter x 5mm high and weighs 2,41 grams. The pedigree of the piece is evident in the hallmarks; the jeweller's signature, the Birmingham Assay mark, the date 2006 and the 375 hallmark for 9ct yellow gold. The ring is in excellent condition and has been authenticated by an independent jeweller. A small "certificate of authentication" comes with the ring. Andalusite is a fascinating stone. The stones used in this piece have distinctly different, almost variegated, hues of green and gold making it a rather special and unusual piece of jewellery.
