UNUSUAL HAND CRAFTED 'JEWELLERY ART" RING NATURAL AMETHYST AND AQUAMARINE STERLING SILVER
As much as I love the sheer beauty of a faceted gemstone jewellery, I am equally fascinated with what an artist can do with natural gemstones. The jeweller behind this piece uses completely natural mined stones - in this case amethyst of different hues and a single aquamarine - polishes them into soft and smooth cabochons before crafting them into something special. Each piece is one-off and quite unique. There is a strongly organic feel behind his work, the shank itself evoking the feeling of a tree bark and the sterling silver decoration floral. He touches the ring with copper art to create warmth and contrast. Its a heavy piece (over 10 grams) but the jeweller has used open-word techniques around the shank to keep the ring large but feminine. The gemstones are all Africa-mined, natural and unheated. It's an unusual piece of jewellery and beautiful on the hand. It makes a big statement in all ways!
