BASKET WEAVE MEXICAN STERLING SILVER RING. 925. HEAVY.

This piece was brought back from Taxco de Alarcon, a town southwest of Mexico City, famed for its handcrafted silver jewellery. The ring features a broadband shank in a flattened basket weave design, quite tightly woven, with some openwork. There is no ring head as such, the woven design continues throughout the ring. Beautifully made, this heavy piece is in good condition, with some light buff marks. The ring bears the 925 hall mark indicating sterling silver and the Mexico mark. Mexican silver is particularly bright and white, and the added texture provides interest. Please note the large ring size. It would make a wonderful thumb ring but I also think it might appeal to men. It is a really hefty wight (8,64 grams) and the silver itself is very solid and thick so it would take a lot of heavy wear and tear. The detail of the basketweave is particularly interesting making it an unusual and appealing piece of jewellery.
