UNUSUAL SOLID STERLING SILVER EARTH-MINED BLACK ONYX  RING


Heavy handcrafted sterling silver ring, set with a natural black onyx of 19 mm diameter, that has been checkerboard faceted, leaving the earth-mined onyx natural. The deep frame of the ring head, holding the gemstone, has been intricately fashioned out of openwork filigree. The underneath of the ring head is solid flat solid sterling silver.  The shank is a simple strand, hand-hammered for interest, 3 mm at the back of the shank, and splitting into an openwork double strand at the shoulder. The ring head measures 23 mm (2,3 cm) in diameter. It is ring size 7 (O in British and SA sizing). It weighs 11,6 grams and is hallmarked withe jeweller's signature and 925 for sterling silver.
