Description: CERAMIC "Blackbird" PIE FUNNEL. Very popular item used especially in England when a pie is baked. The "Blackbird" is placed inside the pie, and acts as a funnel/chimney for steam to escape, so that pie contents do not overflow in the oven. This is the "Blackbird" referred to in the song:"Four-and-twenty Blackbirds baked in a pie, and when the pie was opened the birds began to sing, wasn't that a dainty dish that was set before the King!" Condition: Very good used condition, no chips or cracks. Don't think it ever saw the inside of a pie! Approximate size: 97mm high.
