The clock is embellished with hand painted Chines figures in slight relief, but the movement is marked as made in France. Whether it was made in China using a French movement, or perhaps made in France with a Chinese theme is unknown. It is however an unusual little clock that would be a great addition to a collection.
The clock body is made of wood and it has little brass feet, handles and a brass ring around the dial. The dial itself appears to be enamel and has no major damage. The brass handles have become loose, but not so that they would easily fall out.
The clock winds easily and runs well. As I type, it has been running for almost a full day. It does run a little fast but it can be adjusted for speed just above the winding key.
Bear in mind that antique clocks are often quite sensitive and once received, it may need a service or adjustment in order to run well.
It measures about 13.5cm in height and is 11cm wide. Dial diameter is 8.5cm.
The balance wheel and speed adjuster is visible when the rear cover is removed, as well as the winder and time adjuster.
