Unusual Tibetan Snuff Bottle

Regretfully I am selling off my collection of oriental collectibles. See my other listings for more items.

This is a rather unusual snuff bottle. It is adorned with Koi fish and lotus flowers and is very intricate. I am unsure of the material but it is relatively heavy for a small piece.

Size: 70mm x 50mm

A SHORT HISTORY OF SNUFF BOTTLES
Due to it’s versatility of style and fine crafts-manship, these tiny masterpieces became one of the most notable representations of  artistic skill throughout the Far East. Originally only a luxury for the elite, Snuff bottles were used for the attainment of favours, positions, status and advancement in government. During the 1700's they became collectable items and the finer the snuff bottle, the more respected was its owner. Snuff bottles were made out of glass, porcelain, jade and other hardstones, ivory, coral, lacquer, amber, or wood.

Whilst we are not qualified to assay collectibles and antiques, all descriptions are accurate as given by the original collector in the respective country of origin. Please read all info and view the images before bidding on an item. However, in the extremely unlikely event that you are not satisfied, please email me and let’s solve any issues before posting a negative rating. HAPPY BIDDING!
