The Dairy cottage ... in a picturesque park land near a small dam - a favourite nesting spot of Fish Eagles and many small birds & where Brown Hyena (not dangerous), Waterbuck, Duiker and Serval have been spotted taking an evening drink ...
is a 4 sleeper cottage with a large kitchen, dining room and small lounge with a fireplace and DSTV.
The 2 bedrooms are both ensuite and both have 2 single beds in each.
The entertainment area is ideal and offers both wood burning and charcoal burning braai's as well as a covered patio in case of rain.
We have a wide selection of fishing waters, namely 10 dams, 5 weirs in our catchment stream and over 3 km's of wild river fishing. All fully stocked, from 600g to 3.5 kg (and growing!). We stock rainbow, golden and brown trout. As we try and promote catch and release each cottage is permitted to keep 2 fish per stay, any additional fish kept will be charged at R60.00 per kg.
Highland Giants is a fly fishing only venue and we respectfully request that you only use barbless hooks. Float tubes are allowed. We do have rods for rent; please enquire if you are interested. Tuition can be arranged in advance.
We also have a wonderful variety of wild & bird life – Zebra; serval, caracal, mountain reedbuck, duiker, fish eagle, spoon bills, to name but a few …
Our farm is also ideal for long hikes or not so long walks, with great views and also some iron age Pedi Settlements and Trekboer ruins to wonder through!!
Obviously being situated in the Grassland of the Highveld we would recommend that you bring sun block with you as well as some closed shoes should you decide to go for a walk.
General Information
The cottages can be serviced at an additional minimum fee of R40.00 per day, to be paid directly to the maid. The maid service also needs to be booked in advance.
Check in time is from 15h00 and check out time is no later than 11h00. Unless other wise arranged.
Bedding, towels, firewood and basic cleaning supplies are supplied. There are TV's in the cottages with a limited selection of DSTV channels. All cottages have fireplaces and braai areas.
All cottages have extra blankets and hot water bottles in all bedrooms. The Lodge has heaters in each bedroom. Should you have booked a 3 star cottage and think you will need a heater please bring one with you.
The firewood bins are filled with wood on arrival (sufficient for 1 night in winter and the entire weekend in summer); any additional wood required can be purchased for R20.00 for a full fill. Please remember to bring your own charcoal and firelighters.
No motorbikes or quad bikes are permitted you are welcome to bring bicycles.
Pets are not allowed, unless you book into The Farmhouse.
You are welcome to bring your mountain bikes with you. We do not allow quad bikes or motor bikes due to the noise factor.
