RARE US MARINE CORPS SYMBOL GOLD COIN
Part of the Military Commemorative Coin Series.
On one side, there is a picture concerned marine, printed "UNITED STATES, MARINE CORPS". The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States armed forces. While concerned almost exclusively with shipboard security service and amphibious warfare in its formative years, the Marine Corps has evolved to fill a unique, multi-purpose role within the modern United States military.
The Marine Corps is, with 176,000 active and 40,000 reserve Marines as of 2002, bigger than the United States Coast Guard, part of the Department of Homeland Security.
Both the Marine Corps and the United States Navy fall under the umbrella of the Department of the Navy. While being organizationally separate forces, the two services work closely together.
On the other side, there is the Great Seal of the United States which contains a bald eagle. The Great Seal of the United States is used to authenticate certain documents issued by the United Statesgovernment. The phrase is used both for the physical seal itself (which is in the keeping of the U.S. Secretary of State), and more generally for the design represented upon it. The Great Seal was first publicly used in 1782.
This coin is more than a coin; it is a textbook to enrich your knowledge, a wonderful gift for special people and a good piece for collector.
