 Rare cover - United Nations Plan for SWA - Arrival of Martti Ahtisaari - which was flown from the McGuire Air Force Base in the United States to JG Strijdom Airport in Windhoek, South West Africa on 05.08.1978. 

This cover was signed by the Manager of JG Strijdom Airport and is back stamped with an arrival boxed 'Department of Transport - Windhoek Air Traffic Control' - Handstamp dated 06.08.1978 and with an airport postmark dated 07.08.1978. Only 100 of these covers were ever printed. Included is a card of the crew members and a certification card. 

Ahtisaari spent several years as a diplomatic representative from Finland. He worked as UN Deputy Secretary-General between 1977-1981 and as UN Commisioner for Namibia from 1976-1981, working to secure its independence.
