I believe most camera/webcam software should work with this usb microscope and it also comes with own program. the item can be handheld or slide into stand. thus you can make video or photo. photos below is to show actual standard quality without any adjustments or editing!

by using this i could determine that a normal red house ant soldier have a head span of 2.789 mm from side to side ;) and the picture below is of a fly and an example of points you can measure on your photo with the software
i did a handheld test with a tourmaline 0.89 carat 6.49mm x 4.84 mm about 4 - 6 cm from the stone to see handheld focus and this was the result : (ps i also have very shaky hands) by using the microscope measure tool i measured the frame below from wall to wall at 9.4 mm x 7.1 mm
no external power supply or batteries needed, only usb to laptop or desktop pc! small and compact the microscope is roughly 12 - 16 cm long and about 3 cm's thick. it comes with a lens protective plastic cap.

my personal honest review : great item can really see items up close fine detail not visible to eye, i am not a computer expert and got perfect focus by adjusting the focus button, not sure how many times enlarged it is but on photo of emerald you can get an idea as the actual full emerald is not even 1 cm long.I described the item to the best of my knowledge and as accurate as possible, using actual images to show the buyer what he gets. very nice and addictive, want to put everything under microscope now ;) i purchased a normal non usb microscope on bob a while ago and it is not giving me the quality easy usage and satisfaction that the usb is giving and you can take photos!
