Seller is great, but check with escrow.com before buying for all payment potions, you may not be able to pay by credit card because of their restrictions.
Escrow is at times picky, since your credit card was from Australia but you needed the item shipped to SA. But I am glad we got everything worked out with a bank transfer. Thanks again and enjoy the camera. Responded 10 Feb 2004
Was great working with Mike, queries were handled quickly and efficiently. Had problems with the bank and with customs and the camera did cost me about R1000 more than advertised, but it was still well worth the effort. Repeat, no problems dealing with Mike. Escrow.com is also very cool.
Excellent service - equipment arrived within time period mentioned by Mike and duties paid on delivery as calculated - no surprises! Purchase at least 30% cheaper this way than transacting locally. Highly recommended.

Price from US better than SA even with shipping and escrow charges.
Shipping only took 6 days from US to to my doorstep in Botswana.

Excellent customer service. Although import duties and an escrow fee had to be paid, the camera cost was still low enough to justify importing.
Will definitely make use of GlobalDigitalDirect again.
Mike is great, responds fast. The camera was not "sealed" and may be new, who knows. I suspect it was a return. Also be prepared to pay more than the amount quoted. Shipping was R496 (R300 quoted), Escrow fees R312, Import duties R720 (R300 estimated by Mike). So it was about R1000 more than quoted, but also R1000 less than buying it locally. The camera is great thus far, though. Holding thumbs.
Quick clarification:1)Escrow charges a percentage on the item fee only not shipping. By raising shipping fee and proportionally lowering the item price saves you money. The total you paid to us was still the same. Shipping was more, but camera price was less.2)Canon does not shrink wrap their boxes. The box you got would be identical if you purchased it from us or from your local dealer. Everything we sell is directly from the manufacturer brand new and unopened. Responded 27 Jun 2003
