Usha Seejarim, on her first extended visit to Cape Town from Johannesburg, seized the opportunity to explore the city both as an everyday commuter and as a foreigner. Through the media of photography, video and sound recordings and documentation she sought to capture the diverse sights and sounds of Cape Town. Her focus ranged from the death-defying experience and argot taxi transport to the symbolic sites of sea and mountain, approached with a fresh and unassuming vision that avoids the obvious and common clichés.
