Garcinia Cambogia (Malabar Tamarind) is a small fruit that has some traditional usage, but has shown medicinal benefits as well. It is a very good source of hydroxycitric acids (HCA), with one of the isomers, known as (-)-Hydroxycitric acid, thought to help in weight control.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The mechanism of action is inhibiting an enzyme called Citric acid lyase which is required in the synthesis of fatty acids, known as de novo lipogenesis. Evidence of suppressed de novo lipogenesis has been noted and oral consumption of (-)-Hydroxycitric acid appears to reliably reduce food intake and body weight (the latter to a degree where food intake cannot explain all the observed effects).
The GarCitrin® brand used in the USN product, is a standardized extract obtained from the dried fruit rinds of Garcinia cambogia and it is standardized for minimum 50% (-) Hydroxycitric acid and minimum 5% Garcinol. From findings so far, a composition comprising HCA in combination with garcinol would be more absorbable and bioavailable to the body and to the individual cells than HCA administered alone resulting in higher rate of the competitive inhibition of ATP citrate lyase and more efficient use as a weight control therapy.
