This UV (ultraviolet) lamp is used for detecting counterfeit banknotes and other items that are generally marked with UV photo-sensitive inks for security purposes.
UV markers are invisible in ordinary light. UV light is invisible to human eyes. Under this lamp, the UV markers will absorb the UV light and then emit light of a different wavelength that can be clearly seen by humans.
