This Dutch East India Company (V.O.C.) Half-Doit (“Duit” in Afrikaans and Dutch) was issued by Holland, one of the old five United Provinces of the Netherlands. It is dated 1780. It is not a shipwreck coin so the condition is splendid!

These coins circulated freely in the olden days at the Cape of Good Hope.
