Valuable Antique Edwardian 1902 Silver and Fabric Jewellery Box - * Needs fabric restoraion.
This rare and beautiful Art Nouveax style 925 Silver and fabric luxury box is structurally sound and the hinges are in working order.
The 925 silver reposse decorative detail in roses and other flowers - it has a hallmark on the rim which is clearly visible in the images. The lilac ruched satin inside the top lid is typical of that time.
It has a sound wooden base.
It was made in Birmingham by HORTON AND ALLDAY IN 1902 - who were prominent silversmiths in England at that time.
It is 21cm long x 9.5cm x 6.5cm. It weighs 390g.
Although the fabric on the top of the jewellery box, the silk ribbons and underside satin need replacing, it is wonderful restorative project for collectors.
I covered the top in a piece of blue velvet and pinned it in place - to give an idea of what it may look like refurbished - the last 3 images shows this.
Please see the multiple images to make an assessment regarding the condition of the jewellery box yourself.
