Van Riebeeck Coffee Collection of Coin Replica Tokens
According to Dr. Morgan Carroll's MTB South Africa Tokens (2021:484), the full set comprises of twelve replica coins that circulated at the Cape of Good Hope before British coins became the official medium of exchange in 1826. Brian Hern in his token catalogue (2009:460) mentions that the originals of the12 replicas were from the Jimmy Lawrence collection. He lists them as follows:
This collection is complete and is mounted in a custom-made display cabinet (they are not loose). Included are one or two duplicates as well as a small number of the BP series. There are 16 tokens in total.
