This Decoration was awarded to officers of the SADF for Auxiliary services or attached Troops who Distinguished themselves by Outstanding resourcefulness, perseverance or Personal Courage or by their outstanding leadership or responsibility and personal example against an enemy in the Field. Instituted in 1952 made of Silver Gilt.
