The Variegated Maranta 'Kerchoveana' is a real treat for plant lovers who enjoy something a bit different. Its leaves are soft green with darker "rabbit's foot" markings, splashed with cream and white variegation that makes each one feel like a little work of art. Like all prayer plants, its leaves fold upwards in the evening almost as if it's saying goodnight.
💧 Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top 23cm of soil starts to feel dry. Use filtered or rainwater where possible, as Marantas can be sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in tap water.
🌞 Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light may reduce variegation and leaf colour.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity: Loves warmth (1826°C) and higher humidity. Mist the leaves regularly, group with other plants, or use a humidifier to keep the air moist dry air can lead to crispy edges.
🌱 Soil: For optimal drainage and healthy roots, use our Aroid Mix or make your own blend with Barks Unlimited Potting Soil and Perlite.
🌿 Feeding: Feed every 46 weeks in spring and summer with an organic fertiliser to encourage lush, vibrant growth.
Maintenance: Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to keep it looking neat. Rotate the pot every so often to ensure even growth.
🐛 Pests: Keep an eye out for spider mites in dry conditions. If needed, treat promptly with insecticidal spray.
