Front Porch Pickin': 24 Great Bluegrass Instrument Review by Jason Birchmeier
Front Porch Pickin' features a wealth of bluegrass performances by a variety of performers. There's a total of 24 instrumental songs on this album -- none particularly long, all very much grounded in the bluegrass idiom. Some of the selections include Raymond Fairchild's "Cripple Creek"; Earl Taylor, Jim McCall, and the Stoney Mountain Boys teaming up for "John Hardy"; Bob Ensign and the Stump Jumpers collaborating on a number of performances, including "Home Sweet Home," "Just Because," and "False Hearted Lover"; and Don Reno, Bill Harrell, and the Tennessee Cut-Ups' "Lee Highway Blues." There's definitely no shortage of music here. It's a compilation that should please bluegrass listeners, along with anyone who's a fan of the featured performers.
