Vengeance - George Jonas - Chilling account of a Counter-Terrorist Mission...
This is the book that the movie "Munich" directed by Steven Spielberg is based on. It's a very interesting story that follows "Avner" who was selected by Prime Minister Golda Meier and the Mossad to be the team leader on a top secret mission to seek, find and kill a list of PLO terrorist leaders that the Mossad felt was responsible for the massacre of the Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Each team member has a specialty, one is to take care of obtaining the correct papers, passports, other identification, weapons, etc., another is an expert in explosives and another is the clean-up guy, who goes through after the hit happens and removes any kind of evidence there might be, e.g., bullet shells. This book provides a lot of detail on how these men sought out to find the men on the list, how they devised their plans to eliminate those that the found, how they found informants, had safe houses, how they had bank accounts for their personal money, as well as money provided to them to take care of business and the book also provides insight to how they coped with everything they went through. There are 5 members to the team in the beginning and by the end of the book, which spans over 2-3 years, only 2 are left. There are parts of this book that are hard to read because they have hard decisions to make and I would have to imagine Avner still has nightmares and looks over his shoulder at times because of everything he went through. If you like suspense/thriller books, then this is definitely a fascinating read.
