Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is a co-operative, four-player first-person action game for the PS4, often described as having gameplay similar to Left 4 Dead but with a strong emphasis on brutal melee combat in a fantasy setting.

The game is set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, during an apocalyptic event known as the End Times. The once-proud city of Ubersreik has been overrun by the Skaven, a horde of savage, human-sized rat-creatures. Players take on the role of one of five distinct heroes, each with a unique personality, playstyle, and arsenal of weapons (swords, hammers, bows, magical staves, etc.). 

The core gameplay involves:

• Four-Player Co-op: Players must work together as a team to survive the relentless invasion. The game features drop-in, drop-out multiplayer and AI bots can fill empty slots, though the experience is generally considered better with friends.
• First-Person Combat: The combat system is a major highlight, focusing on fluid and weighty first-person melee action that requires skill to master, including dodging, blocking, and parrying. Ranged weapons are available but primarily serve as a secondary option for dealing with special enemies.
• Horde Mechanics: Players fight against unpredictable, dynamically spawned hordes of enemies. The AI director ensures that missions offer a constant set of new challenges, so no two playthroughs are exactly the same.
• Mission-Based Levels: The game features over a dozen diverse levels across Ubersreik, from the high Magnus Tower to the underground Under Empire.
• Loot and Progression: Completing missions rewards the team with loot dice, which determine the quality of a weapon, trinket, or hat awarded at the end of the mission. This system encourages teamwork and replayability to gather better gear.
