The battery grip take one EN-EL15 rechargeable battery or six AA batteries and includes an alternate shutter-release button, AE-L/AF-L button, mutli selector, and main and sub-command dials for taking pictures in "tall"(portait) orientation. Camera menu options allow the user to choose whether the camera battery or the batteries in the D7000 are used first.
