This large piece comes from an estate collection dating back to the 1960's. The ring is crafted in solid polished sterling silver, featuring a large oval Baltic amber cabochon in the most glorious deep honeyed hue with dark orange/red undertones set in a deep bezel setting. The inclusions are particularly interesting. Important to know that the surface of the ring has a matt finish as though it has been buffed off with wear and tear through the years although it could be the natural formation of the amber. Modern pieces tend to be more highly buffed, sometimes even coated, to create the high shine finish. The shank is a solid medium flat band - solid sterling silver and in good condition but showing some age appropriate buff marks. The ring measures 32mm in length x 19mm wide and with such a large piece of amber, extends above the finger, measuring 12mm from the back of the ring head to the top. It weighs a solid 12,5 grams and bears the hallmark '925' for sterling silver. It is a lovely big piece of vintage jewellery.
