A 1965 Afrikaans 1c in similar condition was recently sold on BidorBuy for R4100!!

There were a total of 1031 coins minted in the Afrikaans version of this coin of which 185 were proofs, leaving only 846 coins for general circulation.

What many people do not realise is that the English version is JUST AS RARE!!!

There were a total of 26168 coins minted in the English version of this coin of which 24988 were proofs, leaving only 1180 coins for general circulation making this circulated coin just as rare as it's Afrikaans counterpart. This is easily the most undervalued 2nd decimal coin in the current catalogue!

How many of these have been lost, used as bottle openers or workshop tools and converted into copper washers???
