Peter Rabbit is the most famous and well-known character that Beatrix Potter created, and he has been adored since he first appeared in The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1902. For more than 100 years, the mischievous, blue-coated bunny has been known for his adventures in Beatrix Potter's tales, especially when getting up to no good in Mr. McGregor's garden. Over the past four years, he's also come alive on numerous 50p designs produced at The Royal Mint. Each design has evolved, demonstrating a different aspect of Peter Rabbit's cheeky personality, lovable face, and brave but naughty nature.
The first coin celebrating Peter Rabbit was released in 2016 in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter's birth. It features an up-close portrait of Peter Rabbit looking straight on, and his iconic whiskers are a focal point in the design.
Here is the kicker!! This coin I am offering is an ERROR coin.-Peter Rabbit is missing half a whisker on the right side of his face. (See Photo) The Royal Mint in Cardiff, Wales, acknowledged that the error did occur on just a few of the coins minted in this run, and that these few coins slipped through their quality control inspection. The Royal Mint quality control inspection is close to perfect, so this is RARE, RARE, RARE, and so exciting.
Postage/courier fees are at the buyer's expense (Including International Buyers). What you see is what you get. This is a circulated coin and as such is not advertised as in mint condition. As a collector, in my judgment, this coin is clean and in very good condition, worthy of a prominent place in any collection. It will be delivered to you protected in a coin capsule. Please, ask for more photos if needed.
