This tool is very rare in South Africa and seldom appears on the market !!!!   Vintage Eifel-Geared Plierench        8 1/2"           In the 6th month of 1946                  Forged steel                     Pats Nos 118165 + 1862817               Made in the USA by American Plierench Corp'n Chicago, ILL.               In great clean vintage condition                    Working order                           Excellent quality

The Eifel Geared Plierench was patented in 1916 made the The American Plierench Corporation Chicago, Illinois USA until 1966. They made them in 7" & 8 1/2" sizes. The larger size is more common. They are forged from chrome molybdenum steel and well heat treated. The jaws remain parallel and the strength of the tool allows it to function as a wrench.

Pliers made after 1933 are usually stamped with the year and month of manufacture.

The manufacture stamped the price of the tool into the steel before heat treating : $5 in 1942 and $6 in 1948
