Very Rare Solid Silver Birth Record Spoon By William Suckling. Birmingham, 1933. Cased.

A rare, hallmarked sterling silver birth record spoon.  The stem bears an engraved image of a bespectacled stork cradling an infant atop a chimney.  The bowl bears an engraved image of a clock with "BIRTH RECORD" above and "MONTH 23-1" and "YEAR 1935" to the sides. The clock weights are inscribed with the newborn's size and weight.  The bowl rear is engraved "HILLEL BLIDEN" and bears the hallmarks for Birmingham, 1933 and the maker's stamp for William Suckling Ltd.  The spoon is heavy for it's size, weighing in at 37.88 grams.  In excellent condition with crisp, clear hallmarks and comes in it's original, fitted case.
