VERY SMALL BENJARONG BOWL AND LID

This bowl and lid combination is very small (in fact, the smallest I have ever seen) and stands only 8 cm high.

Benjarong is native to Thailand and was originally only manufactured for the royal family.
It originated with the Chinese Ming dynasty and developed its own feel and culture through the centuries.
Benjarong means "many colours" and this is a prime example.
In the past it used to have no markings at all underneath the item
but ever since people started to collect Benjarong (at exorbitant prices, I might add)
they have started to put "Hand Painted in Thailand" underneath.

The whole object is handpainted and finished with 18 carat gold trim.
Benjarong remains a very unique kind of product and is eminently collectable.
