VERY SPECIAL! ORFEVRERIE GALLIA SILVER-PLATED MILK JUG FROM FRANCE

MADE IN FRANCE BETWEEN 1900 AND 1935.

This silver-plated milk jug is marked at the bottom with the Gallia coat of arms and underneath the  inscription: ORFEVRERIE GALLIA (ie Gallia silversmith foundry) with underneath that the model number 5242. Just above that is the Goat Head which is the silver-plating mark.
Gallia is a French brand name of a silver-coated copper-tin alloy that has been used to make a small series of highly decorative items since 1896. Between 1900-1935 these silver-plated products were marked by model numbers running from 4100 to 6100.
Size 15cm wide handle included 20cm high
Condition good for its age.  Has some tarnish but still a very special piece.
